Taken together, the results of our meta-analysis mirror the findings in the empirical literature, which reports that environmental migration is often short-distance, regional, and temporary. While present international CO2 mitigation agreements account for the impact of population composition and structure on emissions, the impact of international migration is overlooked. This study quantifies the CO2 footprint of international immigrants and reveals their non-negligible impacts on global CO2 emissions. Results show that the CO2 footprint of international immigrants has increased The migration of intrinsic ions ( e.g., MA +, Pb 2+, I −) in organic–inorganic hybrid perovskites has received significant attention with respect to the critical roles of these ions in the hysteresis and degradation in perovskite solar cells (PSCs).

In this Special Issue, I invite papers—particularly the discourses on environmental migration and non-migration—that explore the challenges of adaptation practices in the face of climate change. Analyzing, understanding, and communicating the complex causes, mechanisms and extent of past, current and future environmental change and its impacts on sustainability from a scientific as well as a societal perspective are the goals of the Competence Center Environment and Sustainability (CCES) of the ETH Domain. Since its initiation in 2006, these goals have been pursued within the scope of Environmental Science, Water Management & Hydrologic Science Concentration.
